Setting up users for installation
Before users install this program, you must create the IBM® Lotus® Domino™ user and an IBM® Lotus® Notes® ID for them. You also need to supply this information to the user, for use during install. If you plan for end users to install IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft® Outlook, you should distribute the installation instructions in the topic End user installation. This information is also available to users in the "IBM Lotus Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook Installation and Setup Guide" on www.Lotus.com/ldd/doc.

End users must have Microsoft Outlook 2003 or XP installed on their systems. The Microsoft Outlook client must be a Corporate or Workgroup client. Users can install Lotus Domino Access using a standard Microsoft® Windows® MSI installer. The setup program used during installation is similar to the setup that is used for the Lotus Notes client. It prompts the user for a minimum amount of information and, based on this information, sets up the Location documents, Connection documents, and NOTES.INI settings needed for Outlook to access the server.

End users need the following information to install Lotus Domino Access:

For information on how users can import or export Internet certificates from their Notes ID using Lotus Domino Access, see the Lotus Domino Access help.

Registering Users as Lotus Domino Access clients

Although Lotus Domino Access is for Outlook users whose mail file is stored on a Domino server, access through any client to a Domino server is also available. When registering users, choose Mail (R8) (MAIL8.NTF) as the mail template. Users who use the IBM® Lotus® Domino™ Web Access mail system use the Mail (R8) template, and can connect to their mail file on the Domino server using a browser, Lotus Domino Access, or a Notes client.

To register Lotus Domino Access clients, follow the instructions for registering new users keeping the following information in mind:

Setting up Condensed Directory Catalogs for Offline

Lotus Domino Access users can create a local replica of an address book to use when working offline, disconnected from the network. Using Domino Preferences in Microsoft Outlook, users can select an address book to take offline. It is strongly recommended that a condensed directory catalog is available for users to conserve space and improve the time it takes to replicate.
