Upgrading Domino and DB2
If your IBM® Lotus® Domino® and IBM® DB2 Universal Database™ Enterprise Server Edition configuration includes DB2 enabled Notes databases, you cannot update directly from Domino 7.X to Domino 8.0. You must first convert your DB2 enabled Notes databases to IBM® Lotus® Notes® NSF databases. If you do not convert your databases, you will be unable to access your data.

Use this procedure to convert your DB2 enabled Notes databases to Notes NSF databases and then to upgrade to Domino 8.0 from Domino 7.X, and to upgrade from IBM® DB2 Universal Database™ 8.2.2 to DB2 9.1.0. When upgrading a DB2-enabled Domino server from 7.x to 8.0, DB2 must be upgraded to version 9.1.0.

Mixed Domino and DB2 versions are not supported, for example, Domino 7.x and DB2 9.1.0 are not supported together. Domino 8.0 and DB2 8.2.2 are not supported together.

1. Use the Create Replica tool in the Domino Administrator to create NSF database replicas of the DB2-enabled Notes databases. Be sure to create the replica on a Domino server configured with NSF as the default datastore.

2. Copy the NSF replicas to backup storage.

3. Remove the DB2 enablement from the Domino server.

4. With the Domino server running without DB2 enablement, drop Domino's DB2 database by entering this command from the DB2 Command Line Processor (CLP):

5. Upgrade DB2 to version 9.1 and verify the Domino 7.X server.

6. Upgrade Domino to version 8.0 and verify that the upgrade was successful.

7. From the Domino Administrator client, enable the Domino server to communicate with the DB2 server. Create a new DB2 database for DB2 enabled Notes databases.

8. Restore the backup NSFs.

9. Use compact -p to convert the restored NSFs back to DB2 enabled Notes databases, by entering this command from the Domino server console:

10. Use IBM® Lotus® Domino™ Designer to create and populate DAVs (as necessary).

Note After a DB2-enabled Domino server has been upgraded from 7.x to 8.0, it cannot be downgraded back to a 7.x version.
