Example of clustering for disaster preparedness
You can use an IBM® Lotus® Domino™ cluster for disaster preparedness by making members of the cluster unavailable to users but still accessible to cluster replication. Although you can use a LAN to do this, it is also a good idea to use a WAN so that your backup servers are at a different location.

The following example shows a simple emergency preparedness setup. The cluster includes three servers, two that are accessible to users and one that is not. The server that is not accessible is at a different location. This remote server is not accessible to users because it has been designated as RESTRICTED by using the Server_Restricted setting in the Configuration Settings document or in the NOTES.INI file. This server contains replicas of databases that are critical. Although users can't access the remote server, cluster replication still keeps replicas on the server up-to-date.
