If the Administration Preferences dialog box is not open, click File > Preferences > Administration Preferences.

Macintosh OS X users: Click Notes > Preferences > Administration Preferences.

Internet mail or news format

Set the IBM® Lotus® Notes® user preference Mail > Internet- Internet mail format or Mail > Internet > Internet news format and Prompt when sending to send a mail message over the Internet or post a message to a newsgroup.

Do one of the following options for the mail or newsgroup message:

• Click HTML Only when you know that the recipients of your message have an e-mail program that supports MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions), or the readers of your newsgroup message have a newsgroup program that supports HTML. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) formatting allows you to add structure and rich-text emphasis to standard message text. HTML is the standard for formatting text on the Internet.
• Click Plain Text Only when you know that the recipients of your message or readers of our newsgroup message do not have a program that supports MIME/HTML.
• Click HTML and Plain text to support both formats.
