BROWSING THE WEB FROM NOTES

Saving multiple levels of Web pages with Web Ahead
The "Notes with Internet Explorer" browser automatically saves any Web pages you visit. But you can use Web Ahead to automatically save not only a page you visit, but all the pages linked to that page, down to four levels deep. This is particularly helpful when you want to save a large site or sites for offline browsing.

For example, you plan to browse your company's HR site during a long plane flight. You set Web Ahead to save three or four levels of pages, then visit a few main pages of the site. Within a half hour (while you're still connected) Web Ahead automatically saves the pages linked to that site. Then you can disconnect and view them on the plane by opening your local Personal Web Navigator application.

Note You must connect to the Web directly, and you must be using "Notes with Internet Explorer" as your browser.

To enable Web Ahead

Web Ahead is an agent that runs on your computer. Before you can enable it, you must first enable scheduled local agents in Notes user preferences. (From the menu, click File > Preferences > User Preferences and click Enable scheduled local agents under Startup options on the Basics panel.) Once you have done that, follow these steps to enable Web Ahead:

1. Open any Web page.

2. From the menu, click Actions > Internet Options.

3. Click the Web Ahead tab.

4. Select the number of levels to save.

5. Click Enable Web Ahead.

6. Click Save and Close.

Note To disable Web Ahead, repeat the preceding steps, clicking "Disable Web Ahead" in Step 5.

To move a page to the Web Ahead folder

Web Ahead works on only those pages you put in the Web Ahead folder in the Personal Web Navigator application. To place a page in the Web Ahead folder, open the Personal Web Navigator and follow these steps:

1. Select the page in a view.

2. Click Actions > Move Page to Folder.

3. Select the Web Ahead folder (located in the Web Bots folder).

4. Click Add.
