MAIL

Creating mail with Lotus Word Pro or Microsoft Word
By default, you create mail messages using the Notes editor, a word processor built into the IBM® Lotus® Notes® software. However, you can set up Notes to use Lotus Word Pro® or Microsoft® Word to create and edit mail messages. When you do, Notes shows most of your word processor's menu commands and toolbars. The only Notes menus that remain are the File and Help menus.

If a recipient has the word processor you used to create a mail message, Notes shows the message using the word processor. Otherwise, it is shown using the Notes editor. If you use word processor features not available in the Notes editor, they display differently.

Note You cannot attach a file to a message using a word processor.

To use an alternate message editor

1. Click File > Preferences > User Preferences.

2. Click Mail.

3. Select the word processor in the Alternate message editor field. Select None to use the Notes editor. If you see no options other than None, Lotus Word Pro and Microsoft Word are not installed.

4. Click OK.

5. To create a mail message using Word Pro or Word, open your mail, and then click Create > Word Pro Memo or Create > Word Memo.
