GETTING STARTED

Notes templates
A template is a skeleton that contains design elements, but no documents. When you use a template to create an IBM® Lotus® Notes® application, the application receives the design elements from the template. You can create a template by creating an application with the file extension NTF. Another way to create a template from an application, is to select the Application is a template property in Application Properties. This property enables the master template to distribute design changes automatically to applications created from it. Applications that inherit their designs from master templates receive their changes through a nightly server task.

The table that follows lists the templates shipped with Lotus Notes 8 and stored on your local machine. There are additional templates available that are stored only on the server.
