SETTING PREFERENCES

To secure your Lotus Notes window
The Log out option at the bottom of the User Preferences > Basics page allows IBM® Lotus® Notes® to lock your User ID after a specified time period of inactivity. When Notes locks your User ID, the screen automatically clears, so no one can see your Notes window. Thus, you can step away from your computer, leave Notes running and be confident that your data is secure. Locking your User ID also changes your instant messaging status from Active to Away.

A graphic appears when the screen clears. You can use one of the graphics already in your Bookmarks application, or add a new image resource of your own.

1. Click File > Preferences > User Preferences.

2. Select Logout (and lock Lotus Notes display) if you haven't used Notes for 90 minutes and then edit the number of minutes of inactivity you want to elapse before Lotus Notes locks your User ID.

3. Optional: Click Customize Logout Screen to select or add an image resource to use in the cleared display

4. Click OK.

Note To unlock your User ID, press Enter and then type your password in the password prompt. Once you enter your password, your Lotus Notes display becomes unlocked.
