Managing mail with QuickRules
QuickRules let you create simple rules based on received messages to act on incoming messages with specific subject lines, sender names, or domains. Most of the information required to create a QuickRule is supplied automatically by the message you use as the model for the QuickRule. For example, you could select a message from a certain sender to create a QuickRule that puts all of that sender's future messages into their own folder.

To create a QuickRule

1. In the message list, select a message to use as the model for the QuickRule.

2. Click More > Create QuickRule. Note that the conditions fields are completed with the appropriate values from the selected message. For example, the When Sender field contains the message sender.

3. Specify one or more conditions and an action for the QuickRule as follows:
OptionDescription

For each condition, specify the state of the condition (such as contains or is).

Choose the action to performSpecify the action for the QuickRule to perform on the incoming message:
  • Move to folder lets you specify a mail folder to which the QuickRule can deposit the message.
  • Change importance to high enables the QuickRule to change the message's urgency level.
  • Do not accept message prevents the message from being delivered to your mail application.
4. Click OK. The new rule is created and stored in the Tools > Rules folder and can be viewed and edited there. The new rule acts on incoming messages, but existing messages in the Inbox that meet the conditions of the rule are not affected.
