Status bar: current state information
The status bar appears at the bottom of the IBM® Lotus® Notes® main window. As you work in Lotus Notes, system messages and features appear in the status bar. The status bar is context-sensitive. The messages and features that appear in the status bar depend on the task you are performing and where you are in Lotus Notes.

The status bar in Lotus Notes shows:


To modify the status bar

Preferences let you modify the status bar. You can add or remove items and establish the order in which the status bar items will display.

1. Choose File > Preferences > Status Bar Preferences.


2. Select the items you want to display on your status bar by clicking the check box. If you are uncertain as to what an item will show on the status bar, click it and a brief description of the item will appear in the Description section of the dialog box.
3. (Optional) Change the width of a selection's status bar button by clicking the up or down arrows next to the Width preference.
4. (Optional) Click the Move Left and Move Right buttons to reorder the items. The item at the top of the list will display at the far left of your status bar.

5. Click OK.

To discard all the modifications you've made and return to the original settings for the status bar, click the Defaults button.

Tip You can open Status Bar Preferences by right-clicking anywhere on the status bar and choosing Status Bar Preferences.
