Before you can enable the Housekeeping agent, you must first enable scheduled local agents in Notes user preferences. (From the menu, click File > Preferences > User Preferences and click Enable scheduled local agents under Startup options on the Basics panel.) Once you have done that, follow these steps to enable the Housekeeping agent.

1. Open any Web page in IBM® Lotus® Notes®.

2. From the menu, click Actions > Internet Options.

3. Click the Size options tab.

4. From the drop-down list, click one of the following options:

• Reduce full pages to links if not read within -- Notes deletes the contents of the page, but saves a link to it.
• Remove pages from database if not read in -- Notes deletes the entire page.

6. (Optional) If you want Notes to warn you when the application exceeds a certain size, check "Warn me when the database exceeds" and specify a size in megabytes.

7. Click Enable Housekeeping.

8. Click Save and Close.

To disable the Housekeeping agent, repeat steps 1 -- 3 and 7 -- 8, clicking "Disable Housekeeping" in Step 7.

Tip To manually reduce the size of the Personal Web Navigator, open the application, click View > Other > File Archive, then delete files from the list.
