Importing structured text files
Structured text is ASCII text that is structured in fields that contain values. When importing structured text into a view, you must select an IBM® Lotus® Notes® form to accept the data.

To import structured text files

1. In a view, click File > Import.

2. Click Structured Text in the Files by type list.

3. Select the file's drive and directory and then select the file.

4. Click Import.

5. Select the form you want to use to import the structured text in the Use Form section of the Structured Text Import dialog box. The field names in the form must correspond to the field names used in the Lotus Notes view (for example, name, address, phone number, etc.).

6. Click Form-feed to have Lotus Notes put a carriage return and line feed at the end of each field, or click Character code to have Lotus Notes put a character of your choice at the end of each field in the Inter-Document Delimiter section.

7. Click Main Document or Response Document in the Import as list according to how you want the text to appear in the view.

8. Select whether to preserve the original line breaks in the file, or to have Lotus Notes justify the text in the For body text list.

9. If you are using a form in which your fields need to be calculated, click Calculate fields on form during document import. This option appears if you have formulas in your text.

10. Click OK.
