INSTANT MESSAGING

Adding a group to the instant messaging contact list
Note The features described in this topic are available only if your company has an IBM® Lotus® Sametime® server. The Macintosh version of Lotus Notes® does not support some instant messaging features, for example, instant meetings and multiple-person chats.

You can add groups of people to your instant messaging contact list at any time. Instant messaging uses two kinds of groups, both derived from your company's Sametime directory. The Sametime directory is a master list of all people associated with your company.

Adding a public group

Follow these steps to add a public group to your instant messaging contact list:

1. Display the instant messaging contact list.

2. Click the Add to Instant Contact List icon icon showing person's head.

3. Select Add a public group to the instant contact list.

4. Enter the name of the group exactly as it appears in the Lotus Sametime directory, or click the Browse Directory button to search the Lotus Sametime directory.

5. Click Add.

Note Public groups appear in your instant contact list only when at least one group member is online.

Adding a private group

You can add a private group whenever you add an individual name to your instant messaging contact list.
