NOTES APPLICATIONS


To change design properties
You can select and change design properties in only those IBM® Lotus® Notes® applications to which you have Manager or Designer access.

1. Open a Notes application.

2. Click File > Application > Properties.

3. Click the Design tab.

4. Select or deselect one or more of the following design properties:

Note In previous releases, the term "database" was used instead of "application." Some of the fields in this dialog box may still use that terminology.

Allow design locking

If you enable design element locking, designers will have the ability to lock and unlock any of the design elements in an application. A designer might want lock a design element to ensure he or she has exclusive ownership of it and to prevent others from modifying it.

List in Database Catalog

Check this item to make the application appear in the Application Catalog (previously database catalog). You can enter the name of the category under which you would like the application to appear in the Categories field.

Show in 'Open Database' dialog

Select this option to make the application show up when users choose File > Open > Lotus Notes Application.

Include in multi-database indexing

Select this option if you want the application included in the Domain Index (for Search Site and Domain Search).

Do not mark modified documents as unread

If the unread status of modified documents is unimportant or if the application resides on a server that users don't access directly, turn off unread tracking for all documents to conserve disk processing time. This setting affects all views in the application. Users see only new documents as unread; modified documents do not appear as unread.

Mark parent note on reply or forward

Select this option if you want Notes to use icon indicators in the Inbox, All Documents, and Follow Up views to help you determine whether you have forwarded or replied to messages. The icons appear next to the original message in the "Replied to/Forwarded" column.

Inherit design from master template

If an application is governed by a design template, any changes you make are written over by the master design when all applications are synchronized with the template. (See Refreshing the design of an application.) To prevent the entire application from being governed by the design template, deselect Inherit design from design template.

Template name

If the application is inheriting the design from a master template, enter the name of the master template, for example Pernames.

Refresh design on admin server only

Select this option if you want design refreshes to occur only on the administration server for the application.

Database file is a master template

If the application is used as a template, you can enter the template name. From within this design property, you can further modify the specified template by selecting:


Multilingual database
