SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION

Searching for applications in a domain
Domain Search returns a list of Notes applications in your domain and searches for matching text in a list of application titles in the catalog application (Catalog.nsf) stored on your Domain Search server (or, if there is no Domain Search server or none specified in your current location, the Catalog.nsf on your home server).

Note This type of search does not allow you to search for applications by file name.

A Domino administrator sets up Domain Search. The catalog application determines which application titles are available for searching, so if your organization does not use Domain Search, you can still search for applications whose titles contain specified text.

Search results display in a document containing a list of applications (if any match your query). To open an application from the list, click the application's link icon.

Tip If you use Domain Search, you can forward this document to yourself if you want to save it, or to someone else.

1. Access Domain Search from the Welcome page.

2. Click applications.

3. Enter text in the Title Contains field.

4. Click Search.

You can also search for an application from the Welcome Page or from Bookmarks.

To specify the catalog to use for an application search

Ask your administrator whether your organization has a server intended for application catalog or Domain Searches. You should use this server if available. If not, Search defaults to using your home server.

Note If your administrator applies a desktop policy, and you specify a Domain Search server other than the one specified in the policy, you may find this field overwritten if your administrator sends changes to your desktop. If this happens, ask your administrator for advice.

1. Choose File > Mobile > Edit Current Location to open your Location document.

2. Click the Servers tab.

3. Enter the server name in the Catalog/domain search server field.

4. Click Save & Close.
