Setting margins
You can set the left and right margin for display and for printing. IBM® Lotus® Notes® automatically sets the right margin for display based on the size of the Notes window. Make sure you specify the right margin in relation to the page size.

You can create absolute margins (inches) or relative margins (percentages).


To set margins using text properties

1. Put the document in Edit mode.

2. Select the paragraph(s).

3. Click Text > Text Properties.


4. Click the Paragraph Margins tab.

5. Select Absolute (inches) or Relative (percentages) in the fields for the left and right margins in the Margins section.

6. Adjust margins in the Left and Right text fields in the Margins section; click the check mark to save.

Tip You can also set print margins for an entire document. Click File > Page Setup (Macintosh users, click File > Print; click Margins).

To set margins with the ruler

You can view and set margins on the ruler.

Margin Ruler

1. Put the document in Edit mode.

2. Select the paragraph(s).

3. Click View > Ruler.

4. Perform any of the following tasks:

Set the right marginDrag the bottom right triangle

Note If the right margin is set to Relative 100%, the right triangle on the ruler is not visible. Change the value of the right margin to a lower number to see the right triangle.

Indent selected text or the first line of a paragraphDrag the top left triangle
Shift all left margins without changing settings (such as tabs and indents)Drag the bar connected to the bottom left triangle
Set a tab
  1. Put your cursor in front of the text you want to tab
  2. Drag the bottom triangle
  3. Press Tab.
