Indenting and outdenting first lines of a paragraph
You can indent or outdent the first lines of a paragraph using the Text Properties dialog box, the ruler, or the keyboard.

To indent a paragraph using text properties

1. Put the document in Edit mode.

2. Select the paragraph(s).

3. Click Text > Text Properties.


4. Click the Paragraph Alignment tab.

5. Click one of the First Line Indent icons.

6. Enter the amount of space to indent or outdent. The default is 0.25" (0.635 cm).

To indent a paragraph with the ruler

You may want to indent the first line of a paragraph, or an entire paragraph, as you are working directly with it to see what the indents look like in your document.

1. Put the document in Edit mode.

2. Select the paragraph(s).

3. Click View > Ruler.

4. On the ruler:

Tip You can drag both triangles consecutively by dragging the bar connected to the bottom triangle. You may do this to conserve settings but move them all to the left one inch, for example.

To indent or outdent a paragraph using the keyboard

1. Put the document in Edit mode.

2. Select the paragraph(s) to indent.

3. Do any of the following:
