Specifying the file path for an archive or archive log application
Note For an overview of the process for archiving your mail, see Archiving mail messages to free up space.

For most applications, you can specify a file name and path (directory) for each archive application associated with each set of archive criteria, and the file name and path for one archive log application. This file name and path will be used on the destination computer specified for all archives of the selected application. The destination computer (either a server or your local computer) is specified on the Basics panel of the Archive Settings dialog box.

If you want to archive onto some other medium than your hard drive, for example onto a writeable CD, you can enter the path to the medium here.

Note You can create more than one archive application for a selected application by creating multiple sets of criteria, but you can create only one archive log, which will describe all of the archive activity associated with your application.

1. If necessary, open the application to archive (for example, your mail), and then click Actions > Archive > Settings.

2. Do one of the following:

3. To continue the archive setup process, return to the topic Creating or editing a set of archive criteria .
