Using WebSphere Portal composite application support for Lotus Notes
WebSphere Portal composite application support for Lotus Notes is required to install portlets onto the server and for client communication with WebSphere Portal server for access and edit. For example, if you want to edit a Portal-based composite application using the Composite Application Editor, you must first run WebSphere Portal composite application support for Lotus Notes. This installs .WAR files that are required by the Composite Applications Editor working in conjunction with the WebSphere Portal server.

Note You can install the Composite Applications Editor during Notes 8 (Standard) installation.

An administrator may install WebSphere Portal composite application support for Lotus Notes on an IBM WebSphereŽ Portal server. This is particularly useful for Lotus Notes 8 users who will be using composite applications that contain portlet elements.

WebSphere Portal composite application support for Lotus Notes is available as a Web download.

Note If you create composite applications that include portlets, you must install the WebSphere Portal server. To use some of the functions enabled by WebSphere Portal in Lotus Notes 8, you must also install WebSphere Portal composite application support for Lotus Notes.

Installing WebSphere Portal composite application support for Lotus Notes on your WebSphere Portal server enables Portal provisioning for Notes 8 client users.
