Assembling composite applications using the Portal Application Template Editor
The following steps show how to use Portal Application Template Editor to assemble a sample application named Customer Profiles.

These are the same basic steps that would be used to assemble a custom sample, after the components have already been created and made available to the WebSphere Portal server.

1. Start the WebSphere Portal.

2. Click Templates and then click the Application Library tab.

3. Click New.

4. In the Name field, type Customer Profiles.

5. In the Template field, specify Portal Blank Template.

6. Click OK.


7. Click Customer Profiles > Blank Page > Edit Page Layout. The Content tab appears.

8. Click the layout format desired. For the Customer Profiles sample, for example, the 4th layout style from the left is used.

9. Click Add portlets in the top container.

10. In the Search by field, click Title starts with.

11. In the Search field, specify notes.

12. Select Notes Corporate Customers.

13. Click OK.


14. Add the necessary portlets (for example, "Eclipse Account Manager" and "Eclipse Sale History") to the remaining containers and click Done.

15. Edit the page layout and then click the Wires tab to open the Portlet Wiring Tool.


16. In the Source portlet field, click Notes Corporate Customers.
17. Complete the field options as below: 18. Repeat the Portlet wiring tool input procedure for the second wire as described below:
