NOTES CLIENT INSTALLATION AND SMART UPGRADE
Installation of Notes on Linux® is supported for multi-user only. For Linux, the Lotus Notes client-only is available in the Notes.ismp.linux installation media kit.

1. Shut down all applications.
From a command prompt, change to the Lotus Notes data directory and type the following command:
/opt/ibm/lotus/notes/nsd.sh -kill
3. As the root user, open a new terminal window or File Browser.
4. If you are obtaining the installation kit from a Web downloads page, open your Mozilla GTK2 browser and navigate to the Web page from which to obtain the download.
7. Navigate to the directory that contains the unpacked setup.sh installation executable file.
10. Read and accept the license agreement terms, and then click Next.
11. Accept the default install directory or choose a different install directory.
The default installation directories for a new multi-user install on Linux are listed below:
Note If errors occur and you are installing Lotus Notes on a system on which an existing version of this Lotus Notes release, such as a Beta version, may not have been properly uninstalled.
The following information describes what was installed:
After you install the Notes client, users can log in and run Notes.
1. Log in as a non-root user.
2. Start Lotus Notes by clicking the Computer option - More Applications... - New Applications - Lotus Notes 8.
3. Respond to Notes setup prompts as they appear.
